What you can request

DVA gardening that starts with the actual job

Veterans, family members, representatives and service coordinators can send an initial enquiry. We review the garden and capacity before asking whether the request relates to Veterans’ Home Care or approved DVA Household Services.

Across Wollongong and the Illawarra, the first review covers the garden tasks, local availability and whether the request follows Veterans’ Home Care or approved Household Services.

DVA-funded gardening is not automatic. Veterans’ Home Care provides limited safety-related home and garden maintenance through contracted providers. DVA Household Services compensation may include lawn mowing or gardening for an accepted service-related condition after approval, with the veteran choosing a provider that meets DVA requirements. Mercando does not claim to be a contracted VHC provider.

Lawn maintenance

Mowing and edging requested within the agreed or authorised service scope.

Garden upkeep

Practical weeding, pruning and maintenance suited to the property and arrangement.

Home and garden support

Gardening enquiries can be coordinated with the veteran, representative or relevant service contact.

Planned visits

One-off or recurring options depend on approval, scope and gardener availability.

What customers say about Mercando

These customers describe their experience with Mercando gardening; they are not presented as participants in a particular funding program.

Great service by Nicholas. Whilst the job is not yet done ... chances are I will be using their service on an ongoing basis. I like the fact they are hiring people with a disability. Well done.
