Gardening support for veterans
Enquire about gardening and home-maintenance assistance for a veteran in Melbourne, including services considered through DVA support arrangements.
What you can request
Veterans, family members, representatives and service coordinators can send an initial enquiry. We review the garden and capacity before asking whether the request relates to Veterans’ Home Care or approved DVA Household Services.
Melbourne requests are reviewed against the veteran’s applicable DVA pathway, the practical garden tasks and current local capacity before any funded service is discussed.
DVA-funded gardening is not automatic. Veterans’ Home Care provides limited safety-related home and garden maintenance through contracted providers. DVA Household Services compensation may include lawn mowing or gardening for an accepted service-related condition after approval, with the veteran choosing a provider that meets DVA requirements. Mercando does not claim to be a contracted VHC provider.
Mowing and edging requested within the agreed or authorised service scope.
Practical weeding, pruning and maintenance suited to the property and arrangement.
Gardening enquiries can be coordinated with the veteran, representative or relevant service contact.
One-off or recurring options depend on approval, scope and gardener availability.

Clear from the start
Share the suburb, gardening priorities and whether a DVA contact or service arrangement is already involved.
We review local capacity and identify what referral or authorisation needs to be confirmed.
No funded booking proceeds until the scope, approval, schedule and billing pathway are clear.
Useful before you enquire
No. Gardening support depends on individual eligibility, assessment and either the Veterans’ Home Care or Household Services pathway.
Veterans’ Home Care uses contracted providers for limited safety-related maintenance. Household Services is a compensation support that may let an approved veteran choose a suitable provider after DVA approval.
Yes. A veteran, family member, representative or service coordinator can start the conversation.
Yes, but an enquiry does not confirm funding or a booking. Any required DVA approval must be established before funded work begins.

GoogleVery happy with the gardener who comes on a regular basis. He does a good job and informs me of his visit in advance. Mercando is easy to communicate with.
